Additional information & Speaker Policy
The 8th Conference for Effective Compliance Systems in Higher
Education is the primary networking event for those working in
compliance and ethics within higher education. Last year the
conference welcomed over 250 attendees representing over 75 institutions
from around the country. This conference features three general
sessions and twenty breakout sessions presented by nationally recognized
content-area experts. In addition, attendees will have the
opportunity to participate in a number of pre-conference and
post-conference sessions. This program is not to be missed!
If you would like to be considered as a speaker for this program,
please submit your proposal no later than Friday, August 28, 2009.
Incomplete or late submissions are not guaranteed full
consideration.
If selected as a speaker, the information provided in your submission
will be used for promotional materials. Please complete your submission
with this in mind. SCCE reserves the right to edit submissions to
accommodate this purpose.

Style.
SCCE looks for presentations that are dynamic and engaging. Please be
creative in designing and preparing your presentation so that it is as
interactive as possible.
SCCE requests that your presentation fall into one of the three
following styles. Speakers must select which style they are
presenting when filling out the submission form.
Regular Presentation
A one hour session to include interactive discussion, practical
tools and 10-15 minutes of question and answer
Case Studies
A one hour session to include a description of a detailed,
intensive study from your organization or company, also to include 10
– 15 minutes of Q&A
(i.e. FCPA and export controls, Checks and Balances to prevent
Universities from the Madof Scandal, Scientific Misconduct and
University Integrity)
Facilitated Roundtables on Advanced Topics
Lead an advanced facilitated discussion. Solely an outline of
discussion topics (no PowerPoint). Majority of content will come
from session attendees.
Substance.
Presentations should draw on your expertise in the compliance
profession and be original, insightful, and informative. They should
enrich the knowledge of attendees and contain practical tools,
real-world examples, and strategies for implementation.
Topic.
Presentations that will be accepted into the program will provide timely
and valuable information that compliance professionals can apply to
their real-world situations.
Evaluation.
Session proposals must be submitted via the online form and must conform
to the application instructions. They will be evaluated on the degree to
which they contribute to SCCEâ??s commitment of providing the most
valuable educational experience available to compliance professionals.
Items looked for may include the following:

How well the session enhances the knowledge and skills of
participants
-
The timeliness and relevance of the topic relative to the
compliance professionâ??s most immediate needs

Level of interaction with the audience
In addition, in making its selections SCCE will strive to
achieve:

An appropriate ratio of compliance professional to vendors,
consultants, attorneys in private practice/law firms or those who
provide professional services

Balanced representation across topics
Notification.
SCCE will notify submitters by October 2009 whether their
presentation has been accepted into the program.
Participation.
Speakers who have been selected agree to complete the necessary forms
and submit the necessary materials by dates established by SCCE.
