We just reached a remarkable milestone:  one million downloads of the Compliance Perspectives podcast. First started back in 2016 by Kortney Nordrum and Roy Snell, there are now roughly 600 episodes to listen to, and the list keeps growing.

Before I go on, I want to thank the over 500 members of the compliance community who have taken the time to be a guest on the podcasts. Your thoughts and insights made it all possible.

If you are unfamiliar with our podcasts, the format is simple. Generally, each episode is 10-15 minutes long. It’s enough time to discuss a topic and yet fit within most commutes. Of course, if, like me, you are in Los Angeles, you can always listen to two or three or five, for that matter, while you drive.

No matter how you listen to them, think of the podcasts as the perfect way to stay informed about compliance without interfering with your workday.

The diversity of the topics covered is reflected in our top ten most popular episodes:

1.       Iliana Peters Shares an OCR Enforcement Update

2.       Tyler Shultz on Compliance Lesson from Theranos

3.       FBI Assistant Director Patrick Kelley discusses the FBI Office of Integrity & Compliance

4.       Debbie Troklus on Preparing for the Certification Exams

5.       Margret Hambleton on Risk Assessments

6.       Sally March on Organizational Ethics

7.       Al Josephs on Monitoring Your Compliance Program

8.       Samantha Kelen on Networking

9.       Richard Bistrong on Understood vs. Defensible Compliance

10.   Ahmed Salim on Conducting an Internal Compliance Survey

We have and will continue to address the challenges of multiple industries including healthcare as well as risk areas from A to Z and all the elements of a compliance and ethics program. Our guests have included in-house compliance professionals, solution providers, and government officials from the US Department of Justice as well as authorities in Brazil and France and even the OECD.

We have also aired some podcasts that break the mold. Michael Horowitz, Inspector General at the US Department of Justice, did a two-part, extended deep dive on conducting high profile investigations, and in another podcast we dove even deeper:  looking at compliance lessons from a submarine. We talked to one best-selling author about good and evil characters in fiction, and another one about what we can learn about ethics from dogs. We discussed using humor effectively with a producer of The Simpsons and Frasier, and how to do gamification right with producers of TV game shows.

One hundred podcasts were added in 2022, and we are continuing the pace in 2023. If you are interested in recording a podcast with us, just send me an email letting me know what topic you want to address. I’ll take you through the process; it’s easier than you may think.

And, if you haven’t yet tuned in to listen to the Compliance Perspectives podcast, now’s the time to start as we continue on to our two millionth download.

Thank you to our contributors throughout the years!
